The Manage option allows logins with the appropriate permissions to change the Preferences setting for other readers. Logins with the appropriate permissions will have a Manage link on the top menu to access the Manage Preferences screen. Some of the settings for information only and cannot be modified via this screen.
Change the values as required, then click Save. Click Reset to default to return the settings to those set up for the reader's Enquiry group.
Select reader
Enter the reader's code in the Enter reader code box, then click Select. The reader's name and enquiry group will be displayed and the selected reader's settings will be pre-entered in the Enquiry display, Automatic search restrictions and Reader Info pages sections.
Enquiry display
- Default summary display - This is the default display format used for the summary results, i.e. it is the display format first in the list of formats available for selection from the search pages, and will be the display format used unless another is manually selected.
- Default detailed display - This is the default display format used for the detailed results, i.e. it is the display format first in the list of formats available for selection from the search pages, and will be the display format used unless another is manually selected.
- Default summary export - This is the default display format used when printing, downloading or emailing records using a Summary display format. Other display formats can be selected at the time of printing/downloading/emailing.
- Default detailed export - This is the default display format used when printing, downloading or emailing records using a Detailed display format. Other display formats can be selected at the time of printing/downloading/emailing.
- Default sort order - This is the default sort order used for search results.
- Default precision - This is the precision setting which will be used for all searches, unless a differnet precision has been selected via search results.
- Default theme - This is the default colour theme used.
Default search page
- Maximum hits displayed - This shows the maximum number of hits which can be displayed for each search. Searches which return a greater number of hits will still be sorted, provided the number of hits is less than that set for the Maximum hits sorted field. It is not possible to change this value from this page.
- Maximum hits sorted - This shows the maximum number of hits which can be sorted for each search. Any searches where the results contain a greater number of records will not be sorted. It is not possible to change this value from this page.
- History limit - This is the number of searches saved to the search history. When this maximum is reached, the oldest search will be deleted as each new search is added.
- Favourite searches limit - This is the maximum number of saved searches allowed. It is not possible to change this value from this page.
- Favourite lists limit - This is the maximum number of saved lists allowed. It is not possible to change this value from this page.
- Show word list - If this tickbox to ticked, the wordlist is displayed when search terms are entered in the Search boxes.
- Detailed results on a single hit - If this tickbox is ticked, then searches which retrieve only one record are displayed using a Detailed display format.
- Show search hints - If this tickbox is ticked, search hints which have been set up for specific search terms will be displayed on the Search results page when a search phrase includes these terms. If this tickbox is not ticked, the search hints will be suppressed.
- Use Advanced search by default - If this tickbox is ticked, the Advanced search will be automatically selected when the reader selects the Search option.
- Text size (%) - This is the default text size as a percentage of the standard text size.
- Results per page - This is the number of records to display in the Summary results page.
- Reviewer status - This will display either Allowed or Banned, depending on whether the reader is allowed to post reviews or not.
- Session timeout (seconds) - This is the number of seconds of inactivity after which the reader is logged out.
- Can share favourites - This will be ticked if the reader has been given the ability to share their saved lists and searches.
- Reviews are visible without moderation - This will be ticked if the reader's reviews are available to other reader's immediately on submission: i.e. they do not require approval from a moderator.
Automatic Search restrictions
- Automatic Search Restrictions - The description and coding for any search restriction the reader is subject to will be displayed here. This cannot be edited here: any changes should be made to the Enquiry Group record.
Circulation Info pages
These values cannot be edited via the Manage Readers screen: any changes should be made to the Enquiry Group record.
- Loans - If this tickbox is ticked, the Loans page will be available in the Account screen. Readers can renew loans from this page.
- Reservations - If this tickbox is ticked, the Reservations page will be available from the Account screen. Readers can cancel reservations from this page.
- Loan history - If this tickbox is ticked, the History page will be available from the
Account screen. This page lists the readers completed loans, i.e. loans for which the items have been returned.
- Charges - If this tickbox is ticked, the Charges page will be available from the
Account screen. This lists charges and fines applied to the reader record and payments made by the reader.
- Reviews - If this tickbox is ticked, the Reviews page will be available from the
Account screen. This lists reviews created by the reader and includes the review status, title of the item reviewed
and review summary.
- Interest areas - If this tickbox is ticked, the Interest areas page will be available from the Account screen. This shows the reader's subject areas of interest. The reader can add or remove subjects.
- Serials - If this tickbox is ticked, the Serials page will be available from the
Account screen. This page shows the serials which the reader is currently on a routing list for.
