Reserving and Requesting Items

It is possible to reserve items which are currently on loan, or request items which are currently available for postal loans or putting aside for collection. It is not possible to reserve or request items without being logged in.

Reserving items

To reserve an item which is on loan:

  • Search for the item and display the record in the Detailed results screen.
  • Click the Reserve button.
  • If there are multiple copies which can be reserved, you will be presented with a selection: tick the copy(s) to include in the reservation.
  • If the reservation has been accepted, a confirmation message will be displayed.
  • Click Continue to return to the Results page.

If the reservation could not be placed (for example, if the item is not on loan), you will see a message to this effect, and should click OK to return to the Results page.

Booking items

To book an item:

  • Search for the item and display the record in the Detailed results screen.
  • If it is possible to book an item, the Place booking button will be present. Click it to open the Booking planner.
  • If there are multiple copies, each will be displayed on a separate row in the planner. To change the display to show the full calendar for any of the copies listed, click anywhere in the row for that copy. The button to the right of the 'Clear booking' button will be labelled with the accession number selected. Click the button to display the calendar for this accession only.
  • To create a booking, click New Booking, then click in the box for the date on which you wish the booking to start, then click on the date you wish the booking to end. The boxes for the selected dates will be filled in in green in the booking planner and the start and end dates will be automatically entered in the Start date and End date boxes below.
  • Click OK to place the booking.

Requesting items

To request item(s):

  • Search for the item(s) and display the results in either the Summary or Detailed Results screen.

  • Click the Request button to display the Email form. The items included in the request will be displayed below the form.
  • Enter your email address in the From (email address) box.
